Itinerary

You will be picked up from Haridwar railway station or bus stand in the morning and drive to Sari village via Devprayag and Rudraprayag. The drive will take you along the banks of the holy Ganga and Alaknanda rivers and offer you glimpses of the Garhwal countryside. You will reach Sari by evening and check into a guesthouse or campsite. You can explore the village and interact with the locals or relax for the night.

After breakfast, you will start your trek to DevariyaTaal, which is about 3 km away from Sari. The trail is well-marked and ascends gradually through a forest of oak and rhododendron trees. You will reach DevariyaTaal in about 2 hours and be greeted by a stunning sight of the lake surrounded by green meadows and towering mountains. You can see the reflection of the Chaukhamba peak in the lake on a clear day. You will camp near the lake for the night and enjoy a bonfire and dinner under the stars.

This is the most exciting day of the trek as you will climb to the summit of Chandrashila peak and witness one of the best views of the Himalayas. You will start early in the morning and trek from Chopta to Tungnath temple, which is about 3.5 km away. The trail is steep and zig-zags through a forest of rhododendron and birch trees. You will reach Tungnath temple, which is the highest shrine of Lord Shiva and one of the Panch-Kedars. It is believed that this temple was built by Arjuna, one of the Pandavas, to appease Lord Shiva. You can visit the temple and seek blessings before proceeding to Chandrashila peak, which is another 1.5 km away. The trail from Tungnath to Chandrashila is rocky and steep and requires some stamina and determination. You will reach Chandrashila peak, which is at an altitude of 12,083 ft, and be rewarded with a magnificent 360-degree view of the Himalayan ranges. You can see peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Chaukhamba, Kedar dome, Kala Parvat, Gangotri, etc. from here. You can spend some time here soaking in the beauty and clicking pictures before descending back to Chopta.

You will have breakfast at Chopta and then drive back to Rishikesh. You will reach Rishikesh by evening and be dropped at the railway station or bus stand. Your DevariyaTaal-Chopta-Chandrshila Trek ends here.
